- VLM - serology
- Toxocara canis
Clinic significance
Humans can become accidentally infected with the larvae of certain nematode worms whose natural host is either the dog (T. canis) or the cat (T. catis). This leads to larva migrans which presents with severe eosinophilia. Serological analysis is important in the diagnosis of this condition despite the fact that there is extensive cross-reactivity (which problem can be overcome by Western blot analysis to confirm the diagnosis).
