Clinic significance
Adenosine deaminase, a ubiquitous enzyme involved in the puric base metabolism, is detected in T lymphocytes, monocytes and macrophages activated following a cell-mediated immune process. Its analysis has been proposed as a diagnostic factor for tuberculosis.
Rare deficiencies of this enzyme occur in children.
