Clinical significance
Definitive diagnosis of Crohn's disease can be problematic, in particular it must be differentiated from hemorrhagic coloproctitis. The presence of anti-Saccharomyces cerevisiae antibodies is suggestive of Crohn's disease whereas the presence of anti-X-ANCA is more indicative of hemorrhagic coloproctitis.
