Clinical significance

This test is used for the diagnosis and monitoring of trophoblastic tumors of the testis (germinal seminoma or other testicular tumors with a trophoblastic component) and of the ovary (moles, choriocarcinoma and chorionic epithelioma). The test is useful for early detection of recrudescence and metastasis. Levels are significantly increased during pregnancy
