Clinical significance

Involved in the investigation of thrombosis (venous or arterial) in the young, recurrent abortions (over 3) or persistent thrombopenia. The result is significant if the results of two assays performed one month apart both give results of over 40. Levels can be transiently elevated due to infection but this is not associated with thrombosis. IgG antibodies are more specific than IgM.
