Clinical significance
The CSF protein isoelectrofocusing technique detects the presence of olioclonal IgG bands in CSF, compared to serum. This olicoglonal aspect specific to CSF IgG indicates intrathecal IgG synthesis and is one of the diagnostic elements of multiple scloerosis.
