Clinical significance

This test involves assaying for erythrocyte antigens other than D, C, c, E, e and K (Kell), M, N. It may concern k (Cellano, Lewis a and b, Cw). These tests are usually performed in order to identify an irregular agglutinin.

Please specify the patients full civil status on the request form and primary tube: maiden name, married name or surname used, full first name, gender and date of birth. Please send us the primary tube.
The erythrocyte antigen to be identified must be specified: Cellano(KEL2 or k), Cw, Lewis etc
In biallelic systems, 2 antigens are identified.
Unless otherwise indicated, 'extensive phenotype' requests will correspond to identification of the erythrocyte antigens JK1, JK2, FY1, FY2, MNS3 and MNS4.
