Clinical significance
Normally secreted by the hypothalamus, it stimulates GH synthesis and release from the pituitary gland. The only time when quantification of GH-RH is required is during screens for ectopic tumours (mostly bronchial or pancreatic) with clinical symptoms of acromegaly without pituitary adenoma.
