Clinic significance

Heparins are prescribed to prevent or cure venous and arterial thromboembolic disease. In the case of low molecular weight heparin treatments, the sample must be taken 3 to 4 hours after the injection

  • ALWAYS specify the current anticoagulant treatment (dosage) and the injection and sampling times
  • Syringe pump: testing times are irrelevant once the equilibrium state has been reached. Sub-cutaneous: collect samples at the mid-point between two injections.
  • It is advisable to send us a frozen and centrifuged citrate sample in compliance with the GFHT pre-analytical recommendations.
  • Sample to be frozen within 1 hour. Home sampling is not advisable.
  • Enclose the specific clinical information form (R5-INTGB : Haemostasis)
