L'identification de souches bactériennes permet d'obtenir l'espèce de la souche isolée d'un prélèvement biologique d'intérêt. L'identification est généralement obetenue par technique de spectrométrie de masse. L'dentification obtenue est à confronter à la nature du prélèvement, son caractère stérile ou polymicrobien, à la pathogénicité de la souche et au statut physiopathologique du patient.
