Clinical significance

A major anti-tuberculosis drug. Induces liver toxicity when co-administered with rifampicin. This test helps with establishing the correct dosage and gives the acetylation phenotype. Half-life of the order of 1 hour 30 minutes at the highest normal acetylation rate and of the order of 3 hours at lower rates.
