Cytadine nuceloside analogue, very active antiviral against hepatitis B virus and AZT-resistant HIV. Acts by reverse transcriptase and viral DNA polymerase inhibition. Does not disturb the normal cellular metabolism but involves haematogenic toxicity on the 3 lines.
