Clinical significance

The symptoms of respiratory infections are not very specific, and in most cases cannot be traced back to a specific pathogen. What's more, current medical biology techniques for diagnosing these respiratory infections focus mainly on the search for a single pathogen by analysis. A large proportion of respiratory infections are viral, and etiological research is often unsuccessful. This explains why the vast majority of respiratory infections remain undocumented.Respiratory infections can sometimes be severe. The use of the respiratory PCR panel can make it possible to : - obtain accurate microbiological documentation, with simultaneous research into the pathogens most frequently incriminated, particularly in upper respiratory infections - obtain a result in just a few hours, from a single nasopharyngeal swab. Patient management can then be adapted to the isolated pathogen, while limiting the inappropriate use of antibiotics. The respiratory panel includes the following targets: - Adenovirus - Human enterovirus/rhinovirus - Bocavirus - Coronavirus HKU1, NL63, 229E, OC43 - Human Metapneumovirus - Influenza A - Influenza A - H1-09 - Influenza A - H1 - Influenza A - H3 - Influenza B - Parainfluenza virus types 1, 2, 3, 4 - RSV - SARS-CoV-2 - Bordetella pertussis - Mycoplasma pneumoniae - Chlamydia pneumoniae - Legionella pneumophila SARS-Cov-2 and Legionella pneumophila infections are reportable diseases In the event of any possible case of avian or swine flu, please notify the Division Internationale :International@biomnis.eurofinseu.com

Further information

[To be translated]
The use of the S14UK transport bag is Mandatory.
Swab samples require the use of a transport medium (viral) supplied in kit K1.
Samples (other than swabs) must be sent as they are, in sterile bottles, without transport medium.
