Hepatitis B Genotyping and Antiviral Resistance Profile - serum Referred Test

Specialty
Infectious
Clinical significance
Chronic HBV infection currently benefits from more effective treatments than the old ones. However, their prolonged administration is likely to generate resistance mutations leading to viral escape which first results in an increase in the viral load, then a resumption of hepatic disease. The detection of these resistance is done by sequencing techniques.
Further information
The minimum viral load is 1000 copies/mL (180 IU)
The test will only be performed if the viral load has recently been performed. Please ensure you enclose the result of the recent viral load test.
