Clinical significance

New Rapamycin family immunosuppressant. Sirolimus inhibits cell proliferation. It is not nephrotoxic. It is used in temporary association with cyclosporin for kidney transplants. The Tmax is reached in 1 to 2 hours, it is closely linked with the red blood cells, the half-life is 62hrs +/- 16hrs (1 therapeutic test per week).
