Clinic significance
Transcobalamin is the protein which transports vitamin B12 in the blood. In patients with clinical symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency but apparently normal blood levels of the vitamin, this test may reveal a metabolic problem (congenital transcobalamin deficiency).
