Clinical significance
In 1997, it was demonstrated that the antigenic target of anti-endomysium antibodies is in fact tissue transglutaminase (tTG). This made it possible to perform ELISA tests. The correlation between anti-endomysium and ant-transglutaminase antibodies is of the order of 98% for coeliac disease diagnosis. The test performed uses a more specific human recombinant transglutaminase.
Preanalytics
- 1 x 1 mL :
- serum (do not use 10 mL tube)
- Reftrigerated
- A tube specifically for this analysis : No
Further information
During the assay of the IgA anti-transglutaminase antibodies, if there is an alarm causing us to suspect a deficit in total IgA, the assay of total IgA and the assay of anti-transglutaminase IgG antibodies will be carried out in order to make the diagnosis of coeliac disease.
For celiac disease diagnosis, results are valid only if patient is under a ¿normal¿ diet (including gluten) and if there is no evidence of IgA deficiency
