Clinical significance

It was demonstrated in 1997 that the antigenic target of anti endomysial antibodies is tissue transglutalminase (TTG), allowing us to perform the ELISA test (using the most specific human transglutaminase recombinant) .The correlation between these antibodies and anti tranglutinase antibodies is in the region of 98% for the diagnosis of coeliac disease.
