Clinical significance

The test consists of evaluating the therapeutic efficacy of thienopyridines, such as Plavix® (or Clopidogrel). Plavix® prevents platelet activation, the starting point of a series of reactions resulting in clot formation. Plavix® is used to prevent arterial complications in patients having experienced an ischemic cerebrovascular accident, myocardial infarction or arteritis of the lower limbs.It is also used in some patients suffering from acute coronary syndrome in association with aspirin.
