Clinic significance

Class IV antiarrythmic, calcium channel inhibitor with marked negative ionotropic effect and arterial vasodilator. Phenylalkylamine derivative. Decreases transmembrane movements of calcium, without affecting movements of other ions. In the event of an overdose: severe conduction disorders with marked hypotension or even cardiogenic shock.
Half-life = 3 to 7 hours, half-life is extended in cases of cirrhosis
70% renal elimination.
90% plasma protein fixation
Angor dosage = 120 to 240 mg/day in three doses
