Clinical significance
This test is useful in the diagnosis of deficiency. Deficiency-related bleeding disorders have become rare since new-borns have been systematically treated with vitamin K at birth but some level of risk remains in certain situations: chronic malabsorption, non-supplemented parenteral alimentation and children exclusively fed on breast milk.
