Clinical significance

In serum, a decrease is observed in enteropathic acrodermatitis with alopecia, diarrhoea, skin lesions. Cases of nutritional hypozincaemia are also observed with increased requirements (premature infants, pregnancy), increased losses and/or catabolism and in the case of certain treatments. In contrast, its level increases in familial hyperzincaemia or in the case of exposure to metal fumes.

Centrifuge the sample and decant rapidly
