Clinical significance
With 3,000 new cases of detected invasive cervical cancer (UCC) and 1,100 deaths each year, this cancer is one of the only cancers with a deteriorating prognosis. Following the recommendations of the HAS issued in July 2019, the decree published on March 25, 2020, applicable on April 1, 2020, modified and expanded the reimbursement modalities for HPV testing in the context of UCC screening by recommending, in particular, the performance of an HPV-HR test in primary screening in women aged 30 to 65 years old on a cervical sample. Nevertheless, a certain number of women do not undergo this traditional gynecological follow-up with cervico-uterine sampling for multiple reasons of acceptability and practicality. It is in this context that the HAS recommended the use of vaginal self-sampling. This HPV test on vaginal self-sampling is an alternative to cervical sampling by a health professional. The FLOQSwabs® self-sampling device that we provide to women is validated for HPV-HR testing with the BD Onclarity HPV test on the BD COR automated system. Practical and very easy to use, it consists of a dry swab to be recapped once the sample is taken. Storage and transport are done at room temperature. This kit is available from city biology laboratories that request it and wish to support us in this screening of as many women as possible. The sample can then be taken by the patient at home and brought to the laboratory, or taken directly to the laboratory (by the patient or the biologist). According to studies, the performance is equivalent between a self-collected HPV sample and one taken by a health professional
